The Daughter’s Letter from College
December 27th, 2008
In this legend, parents receive a long-awaited letter from their daughter who is away at college and is dismayed from the contents contained in it. Here is a letter:
“There was no dormitory fire; I did not have a concussion or a skull fracture; I was not in the hospital; I am not pregnant; I am not engaged; I do not have syphilis….However, I am getting a D in History and an F in Science, and I wanted you to see these grades in the proper perspective.”
This letter circulates in anonymous photocopies and is occasionally reported as a prank by a college student wanted to alarm and amuse their parents.
