Chak Chak Shrine
The Chak Chak Shrine is located on the side of a mountain in the Yazal Province of Iran. The ghost of a woman named Nikbanou is often seen there. Nikbanou was a Persian Princess who lived in the 7th century. While she was alive, Arabians invaded her land to try and set up the religion of Islam. She feared for her life, and fled to the mountain, where she would remain until her death. The dead are not buried because the Zoroastrians believe the dead bodies of humans will contaminate the earth.
Therefore, the bodies of the dead are taken to two outcrops that are called the Towers of Silence. One story involves a young man who went to the mountain to drop off the body of his father. After he did this, he felt so exhausted that he collapsed. When he awoke, there was a beautiful woman next to him who made him feel calm and at peace. She gave him a cold drink, and then she disappeared. Following this, he fell back to sleep, but when he awoke he experienced a feeling of energy that he didn’t have since childhood. Word of this story spread quickly, and soon there would be people with sickness and disease from all over the world going to the lady for her powers.
