One of Rockland, Maine’s first inns is the Captain Lindsey house which was built in 1837 and contains nine rooms. Over the years, it has been used as offices for the water company, a roaming house, and currently as an inn. Back about 100 years ago, traveling theaters were quite popular. These actors would all travel together across the country performing on a daily basis.

When coming in the New England area, especially Maine, these actors would stay at the Captain Lindsey House in Rockport. It is believed that the presence of these old actors are still felt here to this day, far removed from their stays at the house. The house is full of unique antiques that are known to attract the energy of spirits. People who work and have stayed at this house have seen several unknown ghostly presences.

Upon walking into the house, the energy is overwhelming and can be felt all around you. When people sleep in one of the first floor rooms, they hear people walking and furniture moving around when in fact there is no one there. It has been said that if you leave your room with a neat bed, you will come back and see that something has left its mark on it as if they were sitting on the bed. The image of a woman’s face is also seen in one of the cabinets. Finally, pictures have been taken around the entire house and they reveal orbs flying all over in every one.
