Aaron Burr was once a leading figure in American history. He served in the Revolutionary War as a soldier, became Senator of New York, and then went on to almost be elected in 1800 as President of the United States. Burr became Vice President under Thomas Jefferson, and after he served his term, he went back to live in New York. He got into a dispute with Alexander Hamilton there and as a result, killed him in a duel. After those events, Burr got caught up in a scheme to invade Mexico and to set up an empire there.
When that planned failed, he was tried for treason and then escaped to Europe. Burr again got himself into trouble, and formed a plot to invade Florida. This however like most of his actions was a failure to plan and he eventually moved back to New York where he practiced law once again. It is a known fact, that the only person Burr truly cared for was his daughter Theodosia. She was actually the reason why he returned to the United States in the first place.
Once he returned, Theodosia was living in South Carolina and took a ship up to New York to see her father. The ship was called The Patriot, and never made it New York, crashing in the Cape Hatteras area off North Carolina. Most likely the reason for the crash was a bad storm or possibly even pirates. The one thing we do know is that people have reported seeing the ghosts of both Aaron Burr and his daughter walking the sandy beaches of Cape Hatteras, still searching for each other until what seemingly appears to be the end of time.
