Bump in the Rug

December 26th, 2008

In this urban legend, a carpenter had just finished installing all the carpet in a home. He looks back in relief and takes pride in the work that he has done when he looks at the ground and sees a lump in one area. He cannot find his cigarettes anywhere so he comes to the conclusion that it must be that. However, he decides that he is not about to go through a lot of work for a pack of cigarettes so he takes a hammer and keeps pounding the floor until the bump is flat. He then found his pack of cigarettes in the area. After he is finished, the lady who owns the house comes up to him and asks, “Did you by any chance see my parakeet while you were working? It got out of its cage again.”
