Bilbo Baggins was a normal Hobbit until one day when a wizard Gandalf and a group of dwarfs came into his life. Bilbo went on a quest to recover gold lost by the dwarfs to a dragon named Smaug. This was a very unusual thing for a hobbit to do. Most hobbits prefer to stay at home and eat and smoke their pipes. So when Mr. Baggins went off on an adventure he was never looked upon the same way by his fellow hobbits again. He eventually was able to sneak into the hidden mountain and made the dragon take flight where it was killed. He returned home with many piles of riches and a small golden ring which he took from a miserable creature named Goillum.

After many years, Bilbo did not show signs of age. It is revealed later that the ring was evil and was keeping him from looking older. When Bilbo passes on to his nephew Frodo, he looks the age he is. He spends the last of his years in the elf-land of Rivendell in peace and quiet. After Frodo returned back from destroying the ring, the two went overseas to the undying lands for eternal rest.
