Battlefield House Museum
The Battlefield House Museum is located in Stoney Creek, Ontario. The ghost of Mary Jones Gage is believed to haunt this historic landmark. This house was once the home to Mrs. Gage, and her two children: James and Elizabeth. They moved to the house in 1790, upon receiving a 200 acre grant in exchange for swearing allegiance to the Crown. During the War of 1812, the house became headquarters for American troops that were invading the area. Since then, the house has been turned into a museum.
Paranormal experiences in the Battlefield House Museum include: antique pieces mysteriously disappearing and then showing up in different spots days later, and electronic malfunctions with the vacuum and computers. One of the reasons why the spirit of Mrs. Gage may haunt the house is because no one is quite sure where her remains are to this day. The remains were in the First United Church in Hamilton until 1969, when a fire ravaged the church. As they were transferring the remains of some of the bodies, Mrs. Gage’s remains were mysteriously lost and never found. The battlefield in the surrounding area is also believed to be haunted, with apparitions of soldiers walking around accompanied with the sounds of battle.
