Batman Psychology

Batman has been interpreted many different ways by people since it’s inception during the 1940s. We all know him as the caped crusader who defends Gotham City from the scum that plague the city’s streets. But what about the dark side of Batman? People seem to focus on the more superhero aspect of Batman, rather than the dark-psychological messages behind the character.

Batman’s secret identity, Bruce Wayne, watched his parents be murdered before his very eyes as a young child. Surely this event would have traumatized a person for the rest of their lives. So behind the Batman is truly a dark vigilante who seeks revenge, either good or bad. He ultimately is not the brave hero we see him as.

Batman is a tortured soul. He has so much pain built up inside of him that the only way he deals with it is by taking the law into his own hands. He feels this is only way to get justice for the murder of his parents. Sometimes, justice and revenge get mixed up.

Very nice article. I’ve enjoyed most of it. I’m personally great fan of Batman. From comics to his movies, I know them all and watched it already. And now I am really excited for the upcoming movie The DArk Knight Rises. Well, being a fan and also a student of psychology, I have also tried to light up the inside story of Batman and those villains. You can read it here Batman’s Psychology. Please do visit and tell me how I did it. It’d be a great favour.
