Since his creation in the 1930s, Batman has become an example of true justice in the form of a dark vigilante. When it was first thought to put Batman on television, producers felt audiences would relate better to the campy atmosphere of the comic books, rather than the dark realistic version we know today. Adam West and Burt Ward were cast as Batman and Robin. The show was full of cliche situations and cliffhangers that came to define the Batman franchiseĀ at the time. After three seasons, the show was cancelled and has become a cult classic amongst fans. Many people view the show as inferior to Tim Burton and Chris Nolan films. Yet, this show was considered unique for the time. The main theme and quotes from the series have made their way into popular culture and have become comedic references.
