It has been many years since Bruce Wayne has been seen in Gotham City. He has left his mansion and billions of dollars behind to go searching for the meaning behind the evil of the world. In his travels, he became imprisoned in an Asian jail where he met a man named Henri Ducard. Ducard shows him the way of the organization known as the “league of shadows.” Led by Ra’s Al Ghul, this secret society has been using their own form of justice to set things right in the world. Bruce Wayne realizes that these men are corrupting justice. He kills Ra’s Al Ghul sets fire to their buildings. From then on, Bruce becomes a symbol of justice, and calls himself Batman.
The film was released in 2005 after many attempts to create another Batman movie. Thanks to the critical and box-office failure of Batman and Robin, almost a decade went by with no hope of a movie. That was until acclaimed director Christopher Nolan pitched the idea to Warner Brothers of a much more realistic and darker themed Batman, similar to the comics of the 1980s. The film was made and became an instant success. It reinvented the Batman franchise.
