Baldoon Castle is an old castle located in Bladnoch, Scotland. The story goes that a woman named Janet had a fixed marriage by her parents to a man named David Dunbar, heir of Sir David Dunbar of Baldoon. She disagreed with this because she was in love with Archibald, third Lord Rutherford. Archibald obviously came from a poor family which is why the parents would never of approved the marriage.
On the night of Janet and Dunbar’s marriage, screams had been heard from inside the newlywed’s bedroom. The family went in to see what was the matter and saw Janet over Dunbar’s body with a knife. Dunbar had been stabbed to death and Janet sad huddled in the corner. Although it seems obvious of what happened to Dunbar, locals claimed that it had been the devil that had stabbed him instead of Janet. Dunbar survived the night. Janet died shorty after on September 12, 1669.
Very early in the morning, a woman can be seen on the grounds of the castle, a woman can be seen walking in her blood-splashed nightgown grieving. That would be nonetheless, the ghost of Janet, the one who killed her husband on their wedding night.
