Apollo 13
In 1970, America had been to the moon twice. There had been speculation as to why Apollo 13 did not complete its mission. The urban legend is that the number 13 has something to do with it. Also, Commander Jim Lovell’s wife lost her wedding ring down the drain while she was in the shower. When the craft reached halfway to the moon, the oxygen tank blew and the crew began losing oxygen and did not have enough power to get home. It took dozens of engineers and scientists to bring the crew home by putting them on a trajectory course around the moon to slingshot back to earth.
It has also been speculated that the Astronauts were followed by unknown objects that looked like bright lights. When the astronauts went to dark side of the moon, they could clearly see these objects. This aspect of the mission was never revealed by NASA to the American public since the mission was more of a priority.
