While people consider Hitler to be one of the worst men in human history, there were others under him who committed the crimes he ordered. In the SS, specially trained men were ordered to commit atrocities that would eventually lead to their trial and deaths later on. Amon Goeth was such a man. He was an SS commandant of a concentration camp in Poland.
Goeth was feared by his soldiers and the Jews he was put in charge of. People would shake in his presence because of the power and strength this man had. His hatredĀ of the Jewish people led to daily beating and killings of Jews. He would fire a sniper rifle from his window down into the camp. He would sometimes randomly walk into the camp in a fit of rage and shoot random people. He was considered by many fellow SS officers to be the most psychotic.
When the war drew to a close, Goeth was arrested and tried for crimes against humanity. he had thousands of Jewish deaths on his hands not counting the numerous personal deaths he inflicted, with his own weapon. When he was sentenced to death by hanging, it took three tries to kill him. The first two times, the length of the rope was not enough to strangle him to death. Before the third try he shouted “Heil Hitler!” The stand was kicked from underneath him and he suffered the slow and painful death he deserved.
