Adaro
March 26th, 2009
In the mythology of the Solomon Islands, the Adaro are malevolent merman-like sea spirits that are said to rise from the wicked part of a person’s spirit. They are described as men with gills behind his ears, a horn like a shark’s dorsal fin, tail fins as feet, and a spear growing out of its head like a swordfish or saw-fish. They live in the sun and travel to and from Earth by sliding among rainbows. They are dangerous to humans and can shoot them with poisonous flying fish. They also are said to be found in waterspouts.
