Old New Castle is located in New Castle County, Delaware and was founded in the 1600s by the Dutch who called it New Amstel. It was then taken over by the British in 1682 who renamed it New Castle. The entire area surrounding the castle still seems like an old colonial town. Homes still standing date back 200 years, as well as cobblestone streets and old churches and cemeteries.
Naturally, such an historic place such as the castle has its share of paranormal activity. Some people who visit the houses hear footsteps going up and down the steps with no one there. Also, some of the taverns in the town report the smelling of tobacco from a pipe. This is unusual since no one can legally smoke in a restaurant in the state of Delaware. People walking past the cemetery at night have reported seeing shadowy figures walking amidst the gravestones. The most notable of ghost sightings in the area are the Dutch soldiers.
These Dutch soldiers are seen walking up and down the Battery Park section of the Delaware River. These figures are usually seen as partial human bodies. These sightings are reported throughout the year, but usually in the autumn. One solider stands out because he walks down the shore holding his decapitated head in his hands.

On Route 103 in Cuttingsville, Vermont you can see the Laurel Glen Mausoleum. People have seen a man crouching before the door to the mausoleum with a wreath and key in one hand and a top hat in the other. The person seems melancholy and appears to be waiting for someone to walk out of the door. This man is not a ghost but the statue of John P. Bowman, who is buried in the vault along with the rest of his family. This statue was built in 1881 when he had it built for the chamber after the passing of his wife and two daughters. There is a life size statue of his daughter Addie in the vault itself.
It was built by 25 sculptors, celebrating the memory of Bowman’s infant daughter who died. Then his wife and daughter were tragically killed within seven months of each other in 1881. Ten years later, Bowman passed as well. Since then, strange things have been reported from around the mausoleum. Most of these occurrences happen at night, but the Bowman house across the street is even more strange.
The Bowman house is believed to be haunted by the entire family. An apparition of a woman has been seen by many visitors on numerous occasions. One time a little girl came in and stuck her tongue out at a painting. This resulted in the painting flying off the wall right to the girl. The house was vacant for many years until a lady recently bought it. She has claimed to witness every member of the Bowman family around the house. She built a special room so she can stay in there at night and not have to go anywhere else in the house for fear of these spirits.

Long Trail hiking path is located in Bennington, Vermont, deep in the southwest corner of the state. Most people who go on hiking trips never will go to Long Trail, for they believe there is a curse upon the area. People have said to vanish into thin-air while on the trail. On November 12, 1945, Middle Rivers disappeared on the trail. In December of 1946, Paula Weldon vanished from the trail while hiking.
She was with a group of fellow college students when she wondered away from the group. After a while, when she didn’t come back, her friends went to look for her, but were unsuccessful and she was never seen again. James Telford and Frances Christman both disappeared in 1949 and 1950, respectfully. There have been many other disappearances dating back from the 1930s but many of these aren’t even documented.
One person was found murdered on the trail by the name of Freida Langer. Her body was found on the trail, but no one knows who killed her or why. Some locals don’t believe in the legend. Although, these people are the ones who avoid going in the woods for fear of the unknown. For a brave and true hiker, this could be the opportunity to find out the mystery of Long Trail.
